Genius and Lunatic
It is well known fact that great thinkers more than other subjected to melancholy. This is not surprising because excessive expenditure leads to breakdown. As soon as the moment of the ecstasy comes genius turns into average man. The absence of the equability is the main characteristic of genius nature. Sometimes chosen people cannot comprehend simple things what sounds ordinary for others. This is the main difference between ordinary person and genius. Talent consciously goes to the purpose and acts considered; genius is unconscious phenomenon as well as hasty acts of lunatic. Only genius inhere eccentricity and mightiness of the thinking. Their fantasy products something absolutely new and is above average person’s understanding. They often change their professions and specialties; their own genius is not satisfied with one aspect and does not allow expressing themselves well. Newton and Pascal we involved in theology in the moment of eclipse. Ampere was a linguist, naturalist, physicist and metaphysician. Equally with lunatic great people differ from average indifference to marriage life, spouse duties. For example Schopenhauer, Descartes, Leibniz, Kant, Spinoza, Michelangelo, Newton and Gogol never been married; Socrates, Shakespeare, Dante and Byron were unhappy in marriage.
Many of genius subjected to convulsive tractions. Paleness, thinness, baldness and low muscle and sexual activity reside them. Napoleon suffered constant right shoulder and lips twitching. And Peter the I suffered twitching face muscles. Quite often ordinary people become genius as a result of illness or head injury. Metropolitan Moscow Macarius who has excellent mind was very sickly boy with no abilities for studies until he was hurt his head.
Since ancient Greek time has been noticed that people achieve abilities for poetry and prediction under influence of rush of blood to head. Probably that is why Cesar, Socrates, Seneca and Avicenna drunk alcohol a lot.
Climatic phenomenon has great influence on genius as well on lunatic: in autumns and springs they make more discovers. Chronic diseases become more acute these periods. Besides that as have been noticed long time ago that in upland with soft climate many genius were born; whereas in low marshland the number is lower. Though as psychiatric statistics says that mountains inhabitants are subjected to obsession and mass psychosis.
It is well known fact that lunatics in most cases heredities in comparison with genius that heredities rarely. It is well known fact that lunacy heredities whereas genius heredities rarely. It is interesting that majority of gifted people have kids and relatives maniac, imbecile and epileptics. For instance, Beethoven’s father was a drunkard, Byron’s mother was crazy, uncle and grandfather of Schopenhauer were lunatic, son of Peter the I was drunkard and maniac and Hegel’s sister fancied herself as a post bag.
As we can see that there are many point of contact between genius and lunatic in psychic activity; intensive sensitiveness turned into apathy, originality of esthetic works and ability to discoveries, unconsciousness of creation, absent-mindedness, and tendency to suicide and alcohol and drug abuse, morbid vanity and monstrous pride. But this does not mean that all genius are lunatics. Genius appears in childhood, early development of abilities and tendency to unusual are of their nature, whereas madness completely developed in acme. Besides that not all genius can be named as crazy for instance Kepler , Michelangelo, Voltaire, Machiavelli, Galileo are inhered with expressed sensitiveness.
Among genius people there are mentally sick and among lunatic there occur genius. If would be a mistake to equate them , though the border between these two anomalies is diffused.
